I must admit that I am not a real good writer. In the online community there must be a million out there who writes better than me. While in school, I’ve had some schoolmates who are members of a writing guild and writes regularly in the school bulletin. These, I knew that one day their articles will be published in the local paper. But that did not happen… really.

Instead, I, who had never imagined to developed a passion for writing was in fact now, is a contributor of our local newspaper. No, I’m not bragging, but what I am saying is that does this make me a credible person to write tips to writing better articles? I do hope so. As this is the challenge in blogging on how to keep readers coming back – writing quality articles. Not just in blogging but almost to all aspects of writing – in magazine, newspaper, etc.

Now, moving forward let me share to you some tips that I had documented in nearly three years of writing:

Start the paragraph that Summarizes the Whole Article

In your language class this is called the “point of view”. The “point of view” is a paragraph that describes or summarize the whole article. This paragraph is where the readers grabs a glimpse on what to expect to further reading.

Let me illustrate, say for instance if you are writing about an event. A good way to start the paragraph is to write it that in such a way it answers the questions – what was the event about, when was the event, where was it held. In such case readers will gladly want to move further as to who came in, what happened to the party, among others.

Explain Briefly in Details the Point of View

What happened to the event is what this paragraph should talk about. In layman’s term this is the “body of the article.” This is the part where you explain in detail or if not briefly on what the ”point of view” is all about.

Say for instance in a boxing event, who won round by round, how the audience reacted after the introduction, and how tense the fighter minutes before the event and who was the celebrity the audience looked into the crowd of thousands watching in Mandala Bay, Las Vegas.

Modifiers, Modifiers, Modifiers

Modifiers are words that will make your article look cool. These are sets of unusual phrases used to described a particular incident in the article. Some examples of these so called modifiers below:

“Want to frolic with a leggy masseuse? Anytime, baby. There are more spas and massage parlors in Las Vegas than there are churches in Cebu. Need some company for the night? No sweat, just be careful.”

“Hot air from the nearby Atlantic Ocean slapped me, inducing more pain to my pressure headache, while the humidity was thicker than a politician’s hide.”

“My friend destroyed the myth that accountants are dead people walking, boring as their calculators.”

Conclude and Put Closure to Your Articles

This is the part where you write how your topic ends. Who won the boxing fight, what was the finale presentation of the party you are attending. This is the part where you let your readers switch their light off and have a good nights sleep by not making them hung.

According to BusinessWeek, media executives had developed a new word in the media business – AdXiety.

Adxiety refers to how a TV viewer feels when they are watching ad-laden TV programs live after they have developed the habit of time-shifting their programs with digital-video-recorder in order to fast-forward through the ads.

Adxiety is really devastating most specially when you are watching a live coverage boxing program for instance. Ten or twenty commercial breaks before the live coverage resumes. So with impeccable logic if a boxing match is good only for 30 minutes, it would normally reach an hour and a half with those ads in line.

Though we might be feeling it, but the truth is that the live coverage is not suppose to be possible without those advertisers doing the sponsorships.

So how do your combat that? A simple way to fix adxiety is to “Fill in the Gap in Between”. You can check your emails through your computers, continue reading some good books, eat your meals, do your assignments, blog or etc. while waiting for the show to resume. These make sure that you had maximize your time by utilizing the gaps in-between.

The Incredible Hulk is finally back. The movie will soon be in theaters this coming June 2008. An excerpt of the story:

Living in the shadows-cut off from a life he knew and the woman he loves, Betty Ross (Live Tyler)-Banner struggles to avoid the obsessive pursuit of his nemesis, General Thunderbolt Ross (William Hurt), and the military machinery that seeks to capture him and brutally exploit his power.

As all three grapple with the secrets that led to The Hulk’s creation, they are confronted with a monstrous new adversary known as The Abomination (Tim Roth), whose destructive strength exceeds even The Hulk’s own. And this come June 2008, one scientist must make an agonizing final choice: accept a peaceful life as Bruce Banner or fin heroism in the creature he holds inside – THE INCREDIBLE HULK.

I got this picture from my brother’s university shirt being a computer engineering student. Take a picture at it and did some labelling works.

And it made me think that this image will give idiots a better understanding on computers. If they can’t visualize how a monitor and central processor works, then this image might be for them.

One of the most intriguing components on the image was the mouse, what is the mouse doing there? The mouse will tickle your feet and allows you for a better navigation on how to get out the door… he’ll test your fear factor!

Would you rather go for quantity or quality?

Would you rather go for quantity or quality? To CEO’s or managers, most of them would probably go for quality. As when running a business quality people can do the job of a quantity of task. Literally, meant one quality individual can do the job a two or three persons. Quality isn’t it?

How about on the online community? I guess still the same. The quality of articles drives a quantity of visitors. That makes quality articles a pre-requisite for aggressive search engine optimization campaign. It might be a different story though having a quantity of articles.

Having quality articles ensures or at least gives higher chances for visitors coming back. And more to that, bookmarks your site, add an email subscription, or feed you. As you can see, what’s the point of having a quantity of articles when your regular readers don’t comeback anyway.

Remember, keeping loyal customers in the business and keeping loyal readers on the online community is better than creating new. Creating new entails a lot of time to build up but with your loyals around they will help you pull through.

Now, does this conclude that one poewerful search engine optimization tool is by creating quality articles? I guess so.

I might as well have just one bottled water worth of article rather than a quantity of bottled water shown on the picture!

Widely compared by Wikipedia on the online community, WikiMusicGuide is not an Encyclopedia. As a matter of fact, many users copy and paste articles from Wikipedia which administrators pro-actively warn.

How are both sites different? WikiMusicGuide focuses only about music while Wikipedia is everything as I see it. Several advantages though in going to WikiMusicGuide. For one is notability. If you do not meet their standards your article will be deleted. One criteria I knew to meet Wikipedia notability standard is based on the number of legitimate sites talking about you – no blogs, no personal opinions included that makes sources or references! I don’t how’d they really define it.

How about being compared with other music sites such as All Music Guide? All Music Guide has regular reviewers where fans don’t get the chance to interact. But at WikiMusicGuide? from indie artist, or aspiring artist of all ages and gender all are welcome to create your page and discuss with them new concerts and albums releases. Really!

In general, the site is young but looks aggressive having almost 20,000 pages (including talk) in which 3,500 legitimate content pages. I’ll rate the site a 4 in terms of interactivity with music fans on the whole world wide web.

Scapegoat is literally defined to as someone who blames others for their mistakes. Or simply as someone who tries to escape a problem without really facing it, even at certain point let other people face it. Take this for example, in most business, if you get the chance to hire a conventional personnel what he can give you is a formula for disaster.

An upset clientele, he tries to escape, makes the clientele even more upset. Normally, the best way is to resolved the problem as quick and this is through by facing it. You had committed it. We are sorry for that. And we are taking actions for it not to happen again.

Here are some reasons on why being a scapegoat will never ever help and why you should take action about it.

It Makes the Problem Longer and Bigger

You see a problem that can be solved in a minute of explanation might take the company a day to solved. Longer and most of all bigger damage. Within that day time how many clients, friends, and colleagues did he talked to about it? Remember a talk about bad deed spreads faster than the good one’s!

It Loses Customer Enthusiasm

When you lose customer enthusiasm about your company, in his mind set, you do not only lose him but to his company as well. Thus, losing business, which can be of your competitors’ gain. You would not want that, do you?

It Makes You Lose Money

Remember money might not be a real money after all but to that of its equivalent such as time, as well as freebies that you might also lose from upset clientele’s demand. The longer it takes to resolved the more demands clientele will ask for.

Just remember to keep getting back to your client. Remember, client do not get upset because you didn’t finished your job or so but what keeps him upset is we kept them hanging without letting him know the status!

Well. basically this would be my first blog post after my test post and I hope you would like my article as a way to move further unto blogging for more – more informative articles. So fine, let us move further. A simple question to begin, do you know how search engine optimization or seo works?

Let me give you a brief and simple overview. It works in such a way that to whoever is more credible for a particular keyword will rank on top of Google. Take note “more credible” means as to whoever who has the most backlinks to a site for that keyword. And so this is where the blogrollings come in to place among others. Further, let me share to you some tips on helping out your site to have a respectable ranking.

Linking Campaign

One of the most common linking campaign practices is to that of your own website. For instance take mine, for all the word Eric Go hereon that I will write, I would link it to www.ericgo.net.

Another is through blogrolling where you communicate with fellow bloggers to exchange links with you at your desired keyword.

Register to Portals and Directories

By registering your blog to directories this will ensure that people will find your blog when if ever they will search for it. One of the tools that you have to take advantage is the tags facility where you put tags about your site for as such with business, make money online, etc. An example of a portal is that of Technorati.

Create Network from Fellow Blogger Around

This part is interesting. They say that for people to like you must like them first. And the same way goes with blogging. Like other people’s blog first and they may not exactly like yours too. But at least you give them that chance to visit your site.

How do you do that? Visit blogs from around the world wide web, communicate through the comments facilities and interact. In this way, your name is usually hyperlinked to your site! In that way, you had given them a chance to read your site.
